Being Waddesdon Manor’s Charity of the year has many perks… including an all expenses paid visit to explore the manor, the aviary and the grounds!

What did our young people have to say about it?

‘This is sick!’ (Elephant automaton)

‘It’s like being inside a computer game…’ (the armoury corridor)

‘This is a vibe!’ (the grey drawing room)

As we played frisbee in the grounds, noticed the two missing spoons in the dining room, tucked into sliders and sticky toffee pudding and learned that the most dangerous bird on the planet is the cassowary – young people relaxed.

Days out weren’t part of some of our young people’s upbringings. There wasn’t the money or time or inclination. With our friends in the community, Youth Concern is honoured to give ‘our’ young people these opportunities.

The risk assessments, the hours of planning, the back and forth of confirming dietary requirements, the weight of massive bags of everything from snacks to sun cream to sanitary products – we’d do it all again for feedback like this: ‘Best. Day. EVER. Someone pinch me now.’
