Winslow is a rather special close-knit kind of place. When a group of young friends were dealt the tragic blow of the death of one – followed by another – of their number, the group decided to work together on a community project. One of the group suggested a use for the heaps of old apples grown in the village each year – and Rennie’s Winslow Cider was born.
Since 2011 the social enterprise – which donates 100% of its profits to Youth Concern – has won award after award, and its traditional cider, mulled cider and ciderlush (think Slush Puppy but with an alcoholic hit!) pull customers into local shops and the regular village market, the Winslow Show and the Bucks County Show.
Rennie’s Winslow Cider has now raised an enormous £19,100 for Youth Concern, enough to pay for a year’s worth of utility bills, security, fire alarms, emergency lighting, resident welfare and fun evenings, insurance, council tax at the Next Step project. Thanks to Rennie’s Winslow Cider, nine homeless or at risk of homeless young adults can now live safely, in a supportive environment, learning how to live independently post project.

If the thought of your business supporting Youth Concern is apple-ing (forgive us!), please get in touch. We’d be delighted.
