We heard today that The Next Step project will receive a grant from the Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust Thriving Communities Fund.
Much has been written in the local press and in our own newsletters, annual reviews and website about The Next Step project. We’ve even featured on local and regional radio and television programmes. But now, after three years of planning and consultation and negotiating, the conversion of Merryville House is almost complete and we are within a whisker of welcoming our first residents. It’s a very exciting time for Youth Concern. Our newly appointed staff team has begun to receive referrals from 18-25 year olds who are homeless or facing homelessness. This donation from the Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust Thriving Communities Fund will help the project welcome its first residents, work with them over a period of months and support them to move on to independent living.
The Housing Trust has long been a supporter of Youth Concern, and the charity is very grateful for its continued support. This latest grant was from the Thriving Communities Fund, a grants scheme for community projects run by Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust. If you would like more information about the grants available, please call the Grants Officer, on 01296 732600.
