Retail crime and antisocial behaviour targeted by neighbourhood police teams in Aylesbury
Aylesbury Neighbourhood Policing Team have delivered strong results in support of local priorities throughout the summer.
Neighbourhood policing officers have been conducting patrols across Aylesbury town centre, engaging with retailers and members of the public, and disrupting and responding to reports of ASB, addressing a local priority. Officers also responded to incidents whilst on patrol including aggressive begging and public order offences, ensuring swift and appropriate action.
Throughout the summer, the neighbourhood team have worked closely with local partners, including Buckinghamshire Council, with Street Wardens to tackle antisocial behaviour and improve public safety and Litter Enforcement Officers who focused on littering and encouraging respect for public spaces. In addition to Buckinghamshire Council, the team also worked with Traffic Enforcement, One Recovery Bucks, Youth Concern and Aylesbury Town Council.
As part of the ongoing work there have been multiple actions taken against individuals, including:
- Arresting and charging a male in Aylesbury town centre who was wanted in connection with three shoplifting offences in High Wycombe.
- Arresting a female suspect during proactive patrols after recovering suspected stolen jewellery.
Special Constables have also played a key role in supporting patrols and responding to incidents including:
- Providing advice to an e-bike rider in Kingsbury Square.
- Stopping and checking a delivery moped in Market Square.
- Responding to a domestic incident in Buckingham, resulting in an arrest.
- Investigating reports of suspected hare coursing near Quainton.
The work over the summer demonstrates the power of collaborative policing, community engagement, and targeted enforcement in line with the crimes that communities identify as their priorities.
This week, the final new PCs join neighbourhood teams across the force as part of the uplift through the Government’s Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee.
