Volunteer for Youth Concern

Volunteering Opportunities

Youth Concern have the following volunteer opportunities available. Below is a brief overview of the different opportunities, for more in-depth information please read the volunteer role profiles, which are available for each opportunity.  

Caretaker 

Location: The Drop-In Centre and Merryville House in Aylesbury 

Time commitment: This role is flexible, based on your availability and the centre’s needs. Tasks will arise on an ad-hoc basis, and we will contact you when support is needed   

Overview: We are seeking a volunteer caretaker with a friendly and approachable manner. The volunteer caretaker will undertake General DIY and maintenance tasks at the Drop-In Centre and Next Step project, to support us make sure both buildings are the best they can be for the young people.

Cleaner 

Location: Merryville House in Aylesbury 

Time commitment: This role is flexible, based on your availability and the house’s needs. Tasks will arise on an ad-hoc basis, and we will contact you when support is needed   

Overview: We are seeking volunteer cleaners who are flexible and self-motivated. The volunteer cleaners will be contacted when a young person moves out of our supported accommodation to perform a deep room clean.

Event Assistant  

Location: Various sites across Buckinghamshire, dependent on the event 

Time commitment: Ad-hoc basis – you will be added to an events contact list and as and when an event is planned, we will send the details to the volunteer list and see who is available to support us. 

Overview: We are seeking friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to join our event volunteer list. The tasks will vary depending on the event but overall, we need volunteers who are happy to come along for event days and support the staff with the overall running of the day. 

Event Assistant – Volunteer Role Profile 

Fundraising Volunteers 

Location: Will be dependent on the fundraising activity   

Time commitment: Flexible  

Overview: We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate fundraising volunteers to be the friendly face of Youth Concern in their local communities. Our fundraising volunteers will organise events to raise money to support young people in Aylesbury Vale. From bake sales and barn dances, to bucket collections and getting sponsored to run 5k, they plan and promote all sorts of fun events in their local community to raise awareness and raise money for Youth Concern.   

Fundraising Volunteer – Volunteer Role Profile

Skilled Session Coordinator 

Location: Drop-In Centre, Whitehill Lane, Aylesbury, HP19 8FL 

Time commitment: Anything from a one of session to multiple sessions being help across a certain time frame. The sessions would need to be run during the Drop-In centre opening times, Tuesday-Saturday.  

Overview: A Skilled Session Coordinator will deliver sessions to young people based on their skill’s/knowledge/ interests. This could be anything from baking, music, arts & crafts, IT skills, budgeting, sports, or a talk/discussion about a certain career or learning topic. The session can be a one-off event or a series of events taking place over a period of time.   

Skilled Session Coordinator – Volunteer Role Profile

Social Media Coordinator  

Location: Hybrid 

Time commitment: Flexible 

Overview: We are seeking an experienced individual to help support us with our social communications and help us raise awareness and engage our online community. 

Social Media Coordinator – Volunteer Role Profile

Speaker Roles  

Location: Various locations across Aylesbury Vale  

Time commitment: Ad-hoc – Every so often we receive invitations from small community groups for someone to say a few words about how our charity supports the Vale’s 13-25 year olds. We would then ask all speaker volunteers if they were available. 

Overview: We are seeking friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to raise awareness and promote the work of Youth Concern by attending local events and giving talks about the charity’s work.

We look to recruit a diverse range of volunteers. If your skills don’t fit the above, please do not let this put you off as we are able to be flexible in most of our roles. We may also be able to offer you a different role that we both feel you are more suited to.
