We were delighted when Pippa Kirkbride, the High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire surprised Amir Khan, one of our Youth Panel members, with an award in recognition of his valuable services to the community. A huge congratulations to Amir for receiving such a special and well-deserved award. Amir has been visiting the Drop-in Centre at Youth Concern since 2020 and talks about his journey with us:
“I’ve been given many opportunities whilst I’ve been at Youth Concern, including sailing the Solent and meeting lots of new people. It’s great being part of the Youth Panel and I’m very proud of the changes we’ve been able to make.”
Youth Concern set up the Youth Panel 4 years ago to give young people a voice and have a say about how the charity is run, for example, the panel were integral to co-creating our new vision, values and purpose, our new logo and branding strategy, the age-split timetable and many events and activities throughout the year, as well as monitoring our suggestions box.

Well done Amir!
