LOCAL HOUSEBUILDER HELPS TACKLE HOMELESSNESS IN AYLESBURY THIS CHRISTMAS
Local housebuilder Barratt David Wilson Homes has recently donated £1000 to Nightstop Aylesbury. This donation will help tackle youth homelessness in the Aylesbury area, where the housebuilder is behind the Kingsbrook development.
Nightstop Aylesbury, a service that is run by local charity Youth Concern, aims to prevent any young person between the ages of 16 and 25 years from experiencing a homelessness crisis. This initiative offers a few nights’ short-term emergency accommodation at a volunteer host’s home in a private room, evening meals, access to a shower and washing machine. With the essentials catered for, Youth Concern will then work with young people to find a longer-term accommodation solution.
Since 2012 Nightstop Aylesbury has provided emergency accommodation to over 150 homeless young people in Aylesbury Vale. Barratt David Wilson North Thames has donated £1000 to the initiative, to help tackle homelessness locally.
The donation was made as part of Barratt David Wilson North Thames’ Christmas Community Fund project, which sees the housebuilder reinvest in local communities every Christmas in an area close to its new developments.

Hannah Asquith, CEO of Youth Concern, commented: “When we think about homelessness, we usually picture someone sleeping rough, in an underpass or by a train station. But this is only the tip of the iceberg. We don’t know the true extent of hidden homelessness, people living in temporary and precarious accommodation. And we don’t often think about teenagers and young adults without a safe bed. Aylesbury Vale has 22% more young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness compared to the national average. There is a youth homelessness crisis here in Aylesbury Vale. We are grateful to Barratt David Wilson North Thames for its generous donation to our emergency accommodation service, Nightstop Aylesbury. We want to be there for vulnerable young people when they need us most.”
