Make Some Noise, Global Radio’s annual fundraising campaign, invites small charities to apply for funding to run vital projects. We originally asked for money to fund our counselling service for 13-25 year olds in Aylesbury Vale, Bucks. GMSN liked our funding application and agreed to fund counselling for up to 20 young people for a year.

Then we heard last month that GMSN will more than double the amount they’re giving: now committing to fund two years’ counselling! That means 40 young people’s mental health will be improved as they meet with their counsellor, 1-1 face to face, by phone or virtually.

The impact this grant will have on young people is huge. In the last 6 months alone;

  • we’ve delivered 705 individual counselling sessions (118 per month)
  • we’ve assessed 22 new young people for counselling
  • another 22 young people have started counselling

Thank you to all the listeners who donated to the campaign, and to James O’Brien and the LBC team for inviting us to raise awareness of the importance of youth counselling to a cool 1.1m people. Opportunities like this result in donations, contacts from local professionals who want to partner with us, and crucially, vulnerable and disadvantaged 13-25 year olds in Aylesbury Vale.
