Youth Concern was shortlisted by national charity Homeless Link in their Excellence Awards 2022. Our ‘Home Safe’ application focused on Youth Concern’s homeless prevention projects: Next Step and Nightstop Aylesbury. We applied for the award to celebrate the two teams’ successes, to recognise colleagues’ hard work, raise our profile and, we hoped, help others learn from our experiences.

While we didn’t win – the winner was Oasis Community Housing’s brilliant ‘Basis Beds’ project (read more here) – we were proud to have been shortlisted from 90 entries. Two of our team, Hannah and Jameika had a great day meeting other homeless prevention project across the UK, and being inspired by the range and variety of solutions. An inspirational day and experience. And who knows? Next year we may win!
