The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities has published a new Rough Sleeping Strategy to drive forward its manifesto commitment to end rough sleeping for good.

Hannah Asquith, Youth Concern’s CEO, has welcomed the much-needed strategy saying “We know first-hand how acute the problem of rough sleeping in the UK is. Compared to the national average, Aylesbury Vale – the home of Youth Concern – has 22% more young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. We welcome the focus on the root causes of rough sleeping. No one should have to sleep on our streets, in friends’ houses or in unsafe accommodation.”

The cost-of-living crisis has already put more people at risk of homelessness, and we need the full weight of the government and partnership working behind this landmark strategy to achieve this pledge. In Aylesbury Vale, we look forward to playing our part to make that a reality.
