In September, the St James Place Foundation made a donation of just under £10,000 to Youth Concern. On 13^th October, our CEO Hannah spoke at their Newbury location meeting to thank the independent financial advisors for their support and explain how Youth Concern supports the most vulnerable young people in Aylesbury Vale.

Hannah explained how, from our Drop-in Centre, the team provides advice on sexual health and substance misuse, independent living skills, support young people back into education, training and employment. Of particular interest to a room of IFAs, she talked about the current cost of living crisis impact on our young people. One example is that the Drop-in Centre team have experienced a 256% increase in young people asking for help with budgeting, and benefits advice (comparing the 6 month period Oct21-Mar22 with Apr22-Sep22; from 7 young people in Oct21 to a high of 28 in Jun22).

Chartered Financial Planner Daniel Barnes thanked Hannah for giving ‘a very clear view of how much impact [Youth Concern] can make, delivered in a superbly calm and measured way’, and Stuart Kingsley, Principal of Kingsley Scarrott and Company added ‘your presentation was spot-on and brilliant.
